HC exempts 5 lawyers from contempt rule
The High Court today exempted five lawyers from contempt of court rule after accepting their apology over obstructing court proceedings, shouting in courtroom and assaulting a bench officer.
The court also directed the registrar general of the Supreme Court to probe whether the bench officer committed irregularities in setting the number of cases in the hearing list and whether the bench officer took money for this purpose.
The High Court bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Ahmed Choudhury came up with the order after hearing the contempt of court rule issued against the five lawyers.
Five Supreme Court lawyers on July 10 offered unconditional apology to the High Court for obstructing court proceedings, shouting in the courtroom and assaulting a bench officer on June 19.
