The High Court today fined Advocate Eunus Ali Akond, a Supreme Court lawyer, Tk 5,000 for moving a writ petition as public interest litigation without having any merit and substance before the court.
The bench of Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Md Ashraful Kamal also summarily rejected the writ petition that challenged the legality of the Admission Policy 2018 for Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC).
Deputy Attorney General Motaher Hossaon Sazu told The Daily Star that the HC fined Advocate Eunus Ali Akond for filing the meritless writ petition for his personal interest.
There was no merit and substance in the petition, he said, adding that Eunus Ali Akond files many writ petitions as public interest litigation before the HC on different issues.
Most of his petitions were rejected due to absence of logical grounds, DAG Motaher said.
He also said Eunus Ali have become a member of the governing bodies of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College and National Medical College Hospital by threatening the authorities of filing cases against them.
Contacted, Advocate Eunus rejected the allegation brought by DAG Motaher, saying that he has become a member of governing bodies through direct election.
