Dept of Disaster Management: DG summoned for not complying with HC orders
The High Court yesterday summoned the director general (DG) of the Department of Disaster Management to appear before it on February 11 for not complying with a previous order of the court.
The bench of Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Ashish Ranjan Das passed the summon order following a petition filed by freedom fighter Sirajul Islam Siddique seeking necessary orders on the DG.
Following a writ petition filed by Sirajul, on May 24 last year, the High Court directed the DG and other officials concerned of the government to extend the service of Sirajul as a project implementation officer in Muktagachha upazila of Mymensingh, said Barrister ABM Altaf Hossain, the petitioner's lawyer.
Subsequently, the HC passed different orders in this regard, but the respondents did not comply, the lawyer also said.
On June 5 last year, the HC issued a contempt of court rule against eight government high officials including four secretaries and the DG of Department of Disaster Management.
Recently, Sirajul filed another petition with the HC seeking a summon order against the DG for violating the court's orders.
