HC wants BTRC’s explanation on realising Tk 867.23 crore from Robi
The High Court today issued a rule asking the telecom regulator to explain why it should not be ordered to refrain from realising Tk 867.23 crore from telecom operator Robi Axiata Ltd.
The HC bench of Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Khijir Hayat also fixed December 1 for passing further order on this issue.
It issued the order and fixed the date for further order following an appeal filed by Robi Axiata Ltd seeking an injunction on BTRC’s move to realise Tk 867.23 crore from the telecom operator.
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on July 31 last year, issued a notice asking Robi Axiata to pay Tk 867.23cr as dues
Later, Robi filed the appeal with a lower court in Dhaka seeking an injunction on realisation of the money by the BTRC but the court turned down the petition.
Robi in October this year, moved the appeal to the HC seeking injunction on the BTRC’s move to realise money from the Robi.
On October 20, the HC admitted the appeal for hearing.
