Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today assured a job for a family member of firefighter Sohel Rana, who died as a hero of Banani fire tragedy.

He made the announcement while attending the first namaz-e-janaza of Sohel, held at the fire service headquarters around 11:30am this morning.

"Sohel was the lone bread earner of his family. We will remember his contribution and give job to any capable member of his family," the minister said.

The minister also said proper treatment was given to Sohel after he sustained injuries.

Sohel's younger brother Uzzal Mia said he and his family are proud of Sohel as he sacrificed his life for the people of the country. He also sought the help of the prime minister as the family has lost its only bread earning member.

Government high-ups were present at the namaz-e-janaza along with fire service and civil defence officials.

Last reported, Sohel's body was being taken to his village home in Kishoreganj for burial after the janaza.

Sohel sustained severe injuries while rescuing people trapped in the Banani FR Tower fire on March 28. After fighting death for 11 days, he died yesterday in Singapore.

Sohel was second among five siblings. His younger brothers Rubel is a student of Bangladesh Open University, Uzzal, a college student and Delwar, a tenth grader.  His sister Selina is a homemaker.
