The owner of the Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan that ran over two students and triggered mass protests has been detained, law enforcers have said.

Md Shahadat Hossain, the owner of the bus Dhaka Metro B 119297, was arrested this afternoon, said a message sent by Rapid Action Battalion (Rab).

Last Sunday, the two college students – Abdul Karim alias Rajib Uddin and Dia Khanam Mim – were ran over during a competition of two buses on Airport Road.

The two buses were immediately torched, and what followed was a wave of Dhaka-wide protests that continued into today amid vandalism and arson.

School and college students have been mainly leading the protests, demanding justice over the deaths of their fellows under one single slogan “We Want Justice”.
