On her place, the organiser crowned runner-up Jessia Islam as the new Miss World Bangladesh.
The decision came at a press conference in Dhaka today, five days after Jannatul was declared as the Miss World Bangladesh.
On Friday, programme anchor Sheena Chohan announced Himi (second runner-up) as the winner of the contest. Immediately after the announcement, one of the organisers and told the audience that she made a mistake announcing the winner.
Later, the organisers declared Jannatul Nayeem as the winner and crowned her as Miss Bangladesh 2017.
Since then, the judges brought allegation that Jannatul Nayeem was not on their list as the winner. Instead, they picked Jessia Islam as the champion but she was announced first runner-up.
However, the organisers stated at today’s press conference that Jannatul has lost her legitimacy as the Miss World Bangladesh for concealing information about her.
Earlier different news media published reports claiming that she got married on 21st march of 2013 but the marriage lasted for about two and a half months.
This led to controversy and debate amongst people as according to the rules and regulations of the contest, it was specifically mentioned that married women cannot apply for this competition.
