HC to order on Khaleda’s graft trial Sunday
The High Court has fixed Sunday to pass an order on a revision plea filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia against a trial of Zia Charitable Trust graft case against her.
The High Court bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and Justice SM Kuddus Zaman passed the order after concluding hearing on the petition today.
Advocate AJ Mohammad Ali placed argument for Khaleda Zia while Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan appeared for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Khaleda filed the revision petition with the High Court on September 27 challenging the legality of a trial court decision to continue the proceedings of the case in her absence.
In the petition, she prayed to issue a rule on the ACC and the government to explain why the lower court's order to continue trial in the graft case should not be scrapped.
