Mobile court fines Swapno Tk 10 lakh

Supershop Swapno has been fined Tk 10 lakh for anomalies found at one of its outlet, including sale of expired food products and more than normal pricing.

A mobile court of Magistrate Sarwoer Alam raided the Banani outlet of the shop around 1:30pm and examined the standard and quality of products displayed there.

During the one and half an hour-long raid, it was found out that the salesmen were promoting the sale of expired products, Magistrate Alam told The Daily Star.

Also, the shop was selling beef at Tk 550 a kilogramme though the authority has fixed its price at Tk 450. Also, another product was being sold at Tk 167 although its actual price was Tk 98.

"Based on such irregularities, we fined Swapno Tk 10 lakh," the magistrate said.
