ACC director’s wife 'sets herself on fire', dies

The wife of an Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) official died at a hospital in Dhaka this morning, a day after she allegedly set herself on fire.

Tania Ishrat, wife of ACC Director Mohammad Yousuf, breathed her last at Dhaka Combined Military Hospital around 10:00 am, Bangla Daily Prothom Alo reports quoting Nabil Kamal Shoibal, deputy commissioner of Uttara Police.

Nabil told the daily that Tania set herself on fire on the night of Wednesday at their house in Uttara’s sector-6. “Tania was mentally unstable, she had tried to kill herself before as well,” the daily quoted Nabil as saying.

The deceased’s family does not have any complaint against anybody regarding the incident, the police official said.
