Explosives, bomb materials found in Mirpur

Lawmen have found strong bombs, improvised explosives, bomb-making materials and a stash of local weapons from the building in Mirpur’s Darus Salam.

“We have recovered 17 strong bombs,” Mufti Mahmud Khan, a top official of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), said today after concluding search of the house.

Also, 30 improvised explosive devices, 100 home-made weapons and chemicals used in explosive making were recovered, said the director of Rab’s legal and media wing.

Khan said lawmen are searching for some close aids of the inhabiting militants of the building.

Rab began operation in the six-storey building in Dhaka’s Darus Salam area around 8:45am today. The inhabitants are all presumed dead, in a blast that took place the day before yesterday.

Rab official Mufti said the suspected militant Abdullah, whose remains along with six others were found, used the top floor of the building as an “bomb-making factory”.
