Muggers snatch Tk 12 lakh in Dhanmondi, Rampura
Gun-toting muggers, in two separate incidents, snatched away Tk 12 lakh under broad daylight in capital Dhaka’s Dhanmondi and Rampura today.
A distributor of Pepsi was attacked and over Tk 11 lakh was snatched away from him in Dhanmondi 8/A (west) around 12:00noon. Several shots were fired.
Mofizur Rahman, a sub-inspector of Hazaribagh Police Station, said victim Mofizur Rahman filed a written complaint with the police in this regard.
According to what he told the police, Saiful was carrying the money and riding on his motorcycle through the area when the muggers intervened. They fired at least three bullets at him but missed.
Meanwhile in Rampura, Shankar Roy, 25, a sales representative of telecom operator Banglalink at Malibagh, was shot while being looted of Tk 1 lakh around 2:00pm.
Shankar had just made a deposit and came out of the bank when the muggers blocked him. They shot him in the leg and took away Tk 1 lakh worth mobile recharge cards.
Rampura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rafiqul Islam endorsed the facts and added that the victim was taking treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
