The first namaj-e-janaza of Syed Fahim Munaim, chief executive officer and chief editor at Maasranga Television, was held on the premises of Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka this morning, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

Munaim, a former executive editor of The Daily Star, died of cardiac arrest at his Gulshan residence around 6:15am on Wednesday.

Later, the body of Munaim, a well-known personality in Bangladeshi media, was taken to Maasranga Television office, where a second janaza will be held, the daily reported.

The body will be buried at Banani graveyard after third janaza to be held at Gulshan Azad Mosque after Zohr prayers today.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Information Minister Hasanul Haq, Dhaka University Vice-chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, PM's Information Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Journalist Riazuddin Ahmed, his colleagues, journalists and well-wishers joined the first namaj-e-janaza at the press club.

Munaim, son of late Syed Nuruddin, served as managing editor of The Daily Star since 1996 before starting to work as press secretary to the then chief adviser of caretaker government in 2007.
