271 shanties gutted as fire breaks out at Chattogram slum

A total of 271 shanties were gutted as a fire broke out at a slum in Chattogram city early today. 

The fire originated at the slum in Anu Majhir Ghat area around 5:10am, Senior Station officer of Agrabad Fire Service, Toufiqul Islam Bhuiyan told The Daily Star.

Fifteen units of the firefighters fought the blaze and brought it under control at about 7:50am, the fire service officer said.

The origin of the blaze and amount of losses caused by it could not be determined yet, he further said.

No casualties were reported in the incident.
