3 die ‘taking liquor’ in Chattogram
Three persons died and another was undergoing treatment in a critical condition after drinking liquor at Malipara in Chattogram city early today, police said.
Deceased Shaon Majumder, 32, Miltan Gomej, 30, and Bishwajit Mallick, 35, residents of Malipara in the city’s Akbar Shah area, our staff correspondent reports.
Ujjwal Banik, 35, another friend of the victims, was admitted to a private hospital, Max Hospital Limited, in the city, police said.
The four friends took alcohol in the house of Bishwajit at Malipara area on Tuesday night, Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Akbar Shah Police Station, said adding, after drinking that, they went to their respective houses at dawn.
All of them became ill in the morning yesterday, the OC said.
They were rushed to different hospitals in the city when their health condition deteriorated, he added.
Of them, Bishwajit and Shaon were admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) last night.
Bishwajit died around 2:30am while Shaon died around 8:00am today, said Alauddin Talukder, assistant sub-inspector of the CMCH police camp.
Miltan, who was admitted to Centre for Specialised Care and Research (CSCR) Hospital yesterday afternoon, died around 11:30am today, OC Mostafizur said.
The bodies were sent to CMCH morgue for autopsy.
