The fire service yesterday recovered bodies of four members of a family who went missing after a boat capsized in the Buriganga on Friday night.

The dead were Motiur Rahman, 55, his wife Rozina Begum, 42, and his sister-in-law Momtaz Begum, 50, and Abid, five-year-old son of the couple.

Debashish Bardhan, deputy director of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Dhaka, told The Daily Star last night that they recovered three bodies early yesterday and body of the child was found in the evening near Lalkuti Ghat.

Shah Jaman, officer-in-charge of South Keraniganj Police Station, said the boat carrying the four sank in the river after being hit by a launch, MV-Manik, around 10:30pm on Friday.
