4.64kg gold seized from Biman flight at Dhaka airport
Customs officials today seized 40 gold bars weighing a total of 4.64 kilogrammes from a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
On information, a preventive team of Dhaka Customs House’s conducted a drive inside the Biman’s Rangaprovat, S2-AHN 300ER B777 aircraft at 8:00am after it landed at Dhaka coming from Abu Dhabi via Sylhet and recovered the gold bars wrapped to a seat with black scotch tape, said Othello Chowdhury, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Customs House.
The value of the seized gold was estimated at around Tk 2.32 crore, he said.
The aircraft has been seized and legal steps were on way in this regard as per The Customs Act 1969, the official added.
