Abrar murder: 11 top personalities want exemplary punishment

The political parties have completely failed to control their party men and the activists of their youth and student fronts and its consequences are in front of all.
Eleven eminent personalities of the country said this in a statement issued today over the murder of Buet student Abrar Fahad.
“We don’t believe that only exemplary punishment of the killers will mitigate this terrible crisis. We think the government and its political party have to play a pivotal role in order to free us from the appalling famine of humane morality which has devoured the nation,” the statement said.
Otherwise, the entire nation will face a terrible calamity, it added.
The political parties have completely failed to control their students, youths and party activists, it said adding that, “Not only that, it is now clear to everyone what happens if political parties are formed based only on muscular power instead of any ideology,” it said.
The Liberation War of Bangladesh cannot remain hostage to a few youth and student organisations, which have no ideology.
The eminent personalities who jointly issued the statement include Prof Anisuzzaman, Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury, Syed Hasan Imam, Prof Hasan Azizul Haque, Ramendra Majumdar, Ferdousi Majumdar, Mamunur Rashid and Nasiruddin Yousuff.
