ACC forms probe body
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has formed a three-member committee to probe into allegation of bribery against Khandaker Enamul Basir, a director of the commission, and Mizanur Rahman, deputy inspector general (DIG) of police.
ACC Director Sheikh Md Fanafillah is leading the committee, that includes assistant directors Gulshan Anowar Pradhan and Md Salauddin, public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya confirmed.
ACC has also formed a fresh committee with Director Manjur Morshed, Deputy Director Abu Bakar Siddiqui and Assistant Director Neamul Ahasan Gazi to enquire into allegation of wealth amassed illegally by Mizan.
Basir was tasked with the probe, but Mizan recently claimed that Basir took Tk 40 lakh, promising to exonerate him.
On Monday, the anti-graft watchdog suspended Basir on charges of leaking information and breaching service discipline.
