After teachers, Dhaka medical doctors strike too
Demanding a separate pay scale for the physicians, doctors of Dhaka Medical College Hospital also went on strike – causing sufferings to the patients.
The doctors started their two-hour long work abstention from 12:00pm to 2:00pm since Monday, Debesh Chandra Talukder, general secretary of doctors association at DMCH, told The Daily Star.
Except for the emergency services, all other medical services will be unavailable during this time, he said.
The government effectuated a new pay scale from last year. Dissatisfied with "pay disparity" in the pay scale, public university teachers went on movement and are currently agitating.
They have abandoned classes and examinations throughout the country.
The doctors' strike follows into their footsteps.
