It’s an eggplant!
The suspected bomb-like substance found at law faculty of Chittagong University last night has been found to be an eggplant.
The bomb disposal team of Counter Terrorism Unit of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) went to the spot this morning to defuse the ‘bomb-like object’ and found that it was an eggplant wrapped with black scotch-tape, our Chattogram correspondent reports quoting police.
“The eggplant was wrapped with black coloured scotch-tape and two wires were from outside,” said Inspector Rajesh Barua, in-charge of the bomb disposal team.
Any vested quarter might have made the bomb-like object and dumped it in front of the faculty for creating panic amid students, the police official also said.
A tense situation was created amid students on the university campus after the “bomb-like substance” was found at Law faculty of the university last night.
Employees of the faculty first found the object in front of the dean’s office of the law faculty around 10:00pm.
On information, a team of Hathazari Police Station rushed to the spot and cordoned off the scene.
Earlier on Wednesday, a bomb disposal team of CMP’s counter terrorism unit disposed an improvised explosive device (IED) which was found in abandoned condition in Bholagiri area of Sitakunda upazila of the district.
