BSMMU nurses call off strike
Nurses at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) withdrew strike after hospital authorities formed probe into allegations of assault.
The nurses, who were agitating on the streets, withdrew around 11:30am, Abul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Shahbagh Police Station, told The Daily Star.
The BSMMU authorities formed a three-member probe body to investigate the incident which involves alleged assault on a nurse by hospital staff, the OC said.
“There was a conflict between nurse and hospital staff last night. Afterwards, a tense situation spread among other nurses this morning. But it was not strike,” BSMMU Director Abdullah Al Harun told The Daily Star. “We are trying to resolve the problem.”
Last night, there was an altercation between a nurse and a hospital staff. It was resolved by authorities, but the nurses took to demonstration today.
