CCC polls: Mohiuddin withdraws candidacy

Former Chittagong mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury has withdrawn his mayoral candidature for the upcoming Chittagong City Corporation polls and expressed support to AJM Nasir, a candidate from his party, Awami League.

Mohiuddin, former mayor of the CCC and its Awami League unit president made the announcement today while talking to reporters at his residence saying he will work for AZM Nasir Uddin to ensure his victory in the mayoral race.

Three times mayor of the CCC, Mohiuddin earlier declared his candidature for the mayoral post in the CCC polls.

On Friday, Awami League central committee in a meeting decided to nominate Nasir, general secretary of the city unit AL for the mayoral post.

"Nasir has been nominated by the AL central committee for the mayoral post in the poll. We all will work for his victory," Mohiuddin added.

He also urged BNP and its allies to take part in the polls to justify their popularity.
