Convicted war criminal Abdus Subhan dead at DMCH
Convicted war criminal and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdus Subhan died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) this afternoon.
The 86-year old former lawmaker from Pabna was admitted to the hospital on January 24 with old age complications. He died at around 1:30pm today, said Mahbubul Islam, jailer of Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.
The tribunal on February 18 in 2015 sentenced the Jamaat leader to death for committing crimes against humanity, including mass killing, murder, and confinement and torture of pro-liberation people during the 1971 Liberation War.
On March 18 of 2015, Subhan filed an appeal with the SC challenging his death penalty.
