Dhaka dwellers must give personal, tenant info by Mar 15

People living in the Dhaka metropolitan area will have to submit their identity information to respective police stations by March 15, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said today.

DMP is collecting the information as part of its move to collect citizens' information and form a citizen database "to arrange security and check crime".

The initiative began in November last year in a bid to curb crime in the metropolitan city, DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said at a press briefing at DMP headquarters this afternoon.

He urged all to assist police create the database.

Under the process, all the landlords of the houses in Dhaka city and their tenants will be required to fill a form and submit it to attached police stations by March 15.

At least 287 police groups from 49 police stations are currently working on it.
