Drug baron Amin Huda dies
Yaba baron Amin Huda, who was sentenced to 79 years of rigorous imprisonment, died at a hospital in Dhaka this afternoon.
"Amin Huda, who was undergoing treatment at BSMMU-Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, died there around 1:00pm," Mahbubul Islam, jailer of Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj told The Daily Star.
Amin Huda had been suffering from different health complexities including hypertension, diabetics and heart diseases. He had an angioplasty procedure during his stay in the prison, jail and hospital sources said.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Morgue for autopsy. It will be handed over to his family members after completing all procedures.
On October 25, 2007, Rab seized 130,000 yaba tablets and 5,000 yaba alternative drugs from the possession of Amin and his partner Ahsanul Haque Hasan at their Gulshan office in Dhaka.
On July 15, 2012, the Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 of Dhaka sentenced 79 years of rigorous imprisonment to Amin Huda and his partner Ahsanul in two cases filed with Gulshan Police Station following the seizure.
