Elderly woman murdered in her own house in Dhaka

Police today recovered body of an elderly woman with her hands and legs tied up from her own house in Mirpur area of Dhaka this afternoon.

The deceased Shahnaz Begum, 65, was the owner of the five-storey building located on Road No-6 in the area, Dadan Fakir, officer-in-charge of Mirpur Police Station told The Daily Star.

On information, police recovered the body with its hands and legs tied up from the ground floor of the house around 1:00 pm, the police official said.

Shahnaz’s daughter along with her family members lives on the second floor while her son on the third floor and their mother used to live on the ground floor of the house alone, the OC said.

Alongside this, some tenants live on the rest floors of the house, he said according to the family members of the deceased.

Further detail could not be known in this regard, the OC said.
