Govt approves 64 parking spots in Dhaka city: Quader

Amid huge parking space crisis, Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) has approved 64 parking spots in the city.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader revealed the information after the 13th board meeting of DTCA at Nagar Bhaban.

He also said the drive against illegal easy-bikes, battery-run rickshaws and non-motorized vehicles have lost momentum due to transport crises in the city.

But both the north and south city corporations will intensify its drive against illegal occupation of footpaths and such vehicles, Quader said.

The meeting also decided to shift all inter district bus terminals of Dhaka city upon ensuring alternative places outside Dhaka.

Both Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Huque and Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sayeed Khokon, Narayanganj city mayor Selina Hayat Ivy, Gazipur mayor Md Jahangir Alam and Narayanganj-2 lawmaker Nazrul Islam Babu, among others, were present at the meeting.
