Govt working as servant rather than ruler: Speaker

Jatiya Sangshad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury yesterday said the government is working as the servant rather than the ruler, to ensure welfare of the people.

“The only goal of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is development of the country and peace for its people,” she said at a citizens' reception accorded to her by residents Pirganj on Pirganj Government Shah Abdur Rouf College premises, marking her election as the House speaker for the third consecutive time.

Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said people of this country joined the War of Liberation irrespective of their race, religion, caste and creed at the call of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

 “I am indebted to the people of Pirganj, as I was elected as a Member of the Parliament with their genuine love, and became the Speaker for the third time,” she further said.
