Khaleda seeks bail in Cumilla murder case
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday filed a petition with Cumilla District and Sessions Judge's Court seeking bail in a murder case lodged against her in 2015.
Judge KM Samshul Alam accepted the petition and fixed November 11 for the hearing, said her lawyer Advocate Kaimul Haque Rinku.
Earlier, on October 3, the Comilla Senior Judicial Magistrate of Cognizance Court 5, Judge Biplob Debnath, denied Khaleda's bail prayer in the case.
According to the case details, eight people were killed and at least 20 others were injured when assailants hurled a petrol bomb at a bus in Jogmohanpur of Chauddagram during the 20-party alliance's movement on February 3, 2015.
Chauddagram police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Nuruzzaman filed a case against 77 people over the incident.
BAIL EXTENDED IN GRAFT CASE
The High Court yesterday extended BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's bail in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case till October 23.
The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rhaman passed the order, follwing a prayer moved by her lawyer Advocate AJ Mohammad Ali.
The same bench yesterday also continued for the 24th day, the hearing on the appeal filed against the trial court verdict in the case.
