Lokman on 2-day fresh remand
A Dhaka court today placed Mohammedan Sporting Club director in-charge M Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan on a two-day fresh remand in a case filed for possessing narcotics at his Monipuripara residence.
Metropolitan Magistrate Ashek Imam passed the order after Mohammad Kamrul Islam, a sub-inspector of Tejgaon Police Station, produced Lokman with a five-day fresh remand prayer.
SI Kamrul, also investigation officer of the case, produced Lokman before the court on conclusion of his two-day remand in the case.
In the remand prayer, the IO said Lokman gave important information about the incident which was being verified. The accused needs to be remanded again for gathering more information about the incident, the IO added.
The defence, however, moved a petition seeking bail for his client Lokman, saying that his client was implicated in the case to harass him falsely.
On September 25, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested Lokman Hossain, also a director of Bangladesh Cricket Board, from his Monipuripara residence with four bottles of liquor.
Later a case was filed against him with Tejgaon Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.
Meanwhile, another Dhaka court placed Kalabagan Krira Chakra Club President Shafiqul Alam Feroz on a five-day fresh remand in connection with a case filed under the Arms Act.
Metropolitan Magistrate Atiqul Islam passed the order after Rab members produced Feroz before the court with a 15-day fresh remand prayer.
On September 20, Shafiqul, a central executive committee member of the Krishak League, was arrested with a foreign pistol and 990 yaba pills in his possession.
