Man held with 8.5 kg gold at Dhaka airport
Customs officials detained a man and recovered around 8.5 kilograms of gold from his possession at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport last night.
Detainee Himel Khan reached the airport by a flight of Emirates Airlines from Dubai around 11:00 pm on Monday.
On secrete information, the customs officials searched backpack of Hemal when he was coming out of the airport through its green channel and recovered the gold, Sazzad Hossain, assistant commissioner of customs, said.
The value of the seized gold was estimated around Tk 4.23 crore, the customs official said.
Later, Himel was handed over to the airport police.
