Mymensingh city polls May 5

The maiden election to Mymensingh City Corporation (MCC) will be held on May 5, Election Commission’s Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed said today.

Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used at all the voting centres, he said while announcing the MCC election schedule at a press conference after a meeting with the election commissioners at the Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka this afternoon.

As per the schedule, the commission fixed April 8 for submission of nomination papers while April 10 for scrutinising the nominations and April 17 for withdrawal of the nominations.

Bangladesh government on April 2 last year recognised Mymensingh as the country’s twelfth city corporation.
