Police recovered the body of a young man from a sand trading point in Dhaka's Khilkhet area early today.

The deceased was identified as Johnny Mia (25), manager of a sand field Dulal Enterprise.

On information, a team of police recovered the body around 4:30am and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy, said sub-inspector Abdur Rahim of Khilkhet Police Station.

The SI said they came to know that he was hit while an excavator was lifting sand into a truck and died. The autopsy will determine the cause of his death, he said.

Deceased's father Jahidul Mia, however, alleged that his son was killed and run over by a vehicle to call it "an accident".

He named some local sand traders as suspects, alleging that they had dispute with Johnny.

He said he would file a case in this regard.

Police said they are investigating the incident.
