The qulkhwani of Maj (retd) Akhtar Ahmed Bir Protik will be held tomorrow at Banani DOHS Community Center after the Asr prayers.

He died at Dhaka's Combined Military Hospital on Tuesday at the age of 70. He was buried in Banani military graveyard.

Akhtar Ahmed was one of the pioneers who set up temporary hospital -- Bangladesh Hospital -- in Matinagar of Agartala in May during the Liberation War. He also participated in battles.

He joined medical core of army in 1970 and wrote books on the Liberation War 'Barbar Fire Jai' and 'Garite Europe Bhraman'.
