Railway officials amass money renting out govt quarters: ACC
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) team has found involvement of Bangladesh Railway officials in amassing money through illegal means by renting out government staff quarters to outsiders in Dhaka.
A group of dishonest railway officials have accumulated a huge amount of money by renting out government staff quarters at Shahjahanpur Railway Colony in Dhaka, said a press release of the ACC.
Apart from this, they also made money by setting shops and tin-shed houses on the open space inside the colony, it said.
The officials also illegally provide water and electricity connection to the shops and tin-shed houses, the release said.
The team will recommend the authorities concerned to take necessary steps to stop the illegal practices.
