Rape case filed against Rajshahi ASI
A case has been filed against an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) for raping a 25-year-old woman in Natore.
The survivour filed the case against ASI Mahbubur Rahman (35), with Natore Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal last afternoon, reports our Natore correspondent.
The accused works at Kajla Police Outpost under RMP's Motihar Police Station, and had an affair with the survivour when she was studying in Rajshahi, according to the case statement.
The ASI however, allegedly tortured her several times for wanting to get married to him.
On November 6, the police official went to the survivour's parents' house in Natore's Gurudaspur and raped her, according to the case statement. He later fled to Rajshahi.
The survivour came to Rajshahi on November 10 and pressurised Mahbubur to marry her, following which he beat her again and asked her to keep the incident a secret.
The Natore Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal directed Rapid Action Battalion-5 of Rajshahi to investigate the allegations and report to the court.
