Microbus plunges into Hatirjheel
A microbus plunged into the Hatirjheel lake in Dhaka yesterday.
The vehicle fell on the concrete slabs after breaking the railing, and slid into the lake around 5:30am, an eyewitness said.
Its driver Abdul Kalam was rescued and given first aid at a local hospital, he added.
Two fire-fighting units rushed to the spot and pulled out the vehicle around 10:50am, Ershad Hossain, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters said.
Saiful Islam, owner of the vehicle, said it was going to Basabo when the incident occurred.
