Show cause notices on 12 councillor aspirants

The Election Commission has issued show cause notices to 12 councillor aspirants of the Dhaka South City Corporation elections for not bringing down their electoral posters till today.

The notices were issued for violating the electoral code of conduct, Returning Officer Mihir Sarwar Morshed said while talking to reporters at his Segunbagicha office in the afternoon.

Announcing the schedule at a press conference on March 18, Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad asked the aspiring candidates, who are using billboards for electoral campaigns, to remove their posters from those within 48 hours of the schedule announcement.

The retuning officer issued the notices on behalf of the commission.

The elections to Dhaka and Chittagong city corporation polls will be held on April 28.
