Train derailment in Moulvibazar: Probe body submits report
An investigation committee formed by the railway ministry has submitted its report on the train derailment on a bridge in Moulvibazar that left four passengers dead on June 23.
The four-member committee headed by Mizanur Rahman, chief mechanical engineer (east zone) of Bangladesh Railway (BR), submitted the report this afternoon, BR’s Director General Quazi Md Rafiqul Alam told The Daily Star.
However, DG Rafiqul Alam did not disclose details of the probe report.
“The railway minister will brief the report in detail on Wednesday”.
Two committees were formed by the Railway Ministry after the train derailment took place on June 23 late night.
Four people were killed and more than 100 injured as the Upaban Express derailed on a bridge in Moulvibazar around 11:50pm on June 23.
One of the carriages of the train, heading to the capital from Sylhet, fell into a canal while two others fell close to the canal’s banks. Several other carriages were also derailed. The incident happened at Boromchal in Kulaura upazila.
