N’ganj headmaster taken to Dhaka Medical
Narayanganj school headmaster Shyamal Kanti Bhakta, who was in attention for the last few days over an incident of humiliation by a local lawmaker, has been moved to Dhaka for better treatments.
He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 12:45pm today with “pain all over his body.” He seemed out of danger without any major bruises on his body.
“I am aching all over,” he told The Daily Star sitting up on his bed at Dhaka Medical.

Siddikur Rahman, personal assistant of a doctor of the hospital told Bangla daily Prothom Alo that the victim’s wife submitted a prayer yesterday to take her husband to National Institute of Neuroscience and Hospital in Dhaka for better treatment.
Regarding reinstatement at the position of headmaster at Piyar Sattar Latif High School in Narayanganj, he said he was yet to receive any formal notification in this regard. However, he thanked the government and others for helping him get his job back.
Meanwhile, around 10 policemen of Shahbagh Police Station were stationed at the gates of his ward. “We 10 are here to ensure his safety,” said Sub-Inspector Arefin, who was on duty.
The headmaster was beaten up by a mob and then forced to squat holding his earlobes by a local lawmaker Salim Osman for allegedly demeaning religion – an allegation found untrue in a government probe.
