NSU teacher ‘missing’
An assistant professor of privately-run North South University (NSU) has reportedly gone missing.
Dr Mubashar Hasan, a teacher of School of Humanities and Social Sciences, has been missing since yesterday, says a general diary filed with Khilgaon Police Station.
Mubashar’s father Motahar Hossain filed the GD around 1:00am today, Khilgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Moshiur Rahman told The Daily Star.
Soon after Mubashar left his Dakkhin Banasri house for the university at 7:00am yesterday, his mobile phone was found switched off, the police officer quoted the GD as saying.
Quoting his uncle Monzur Hossain, also senior research fellow of Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS), Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports Mubashar was “fearing for his life” after a person, identifying himself as one of his students, went to his house on October 25 and asked for him in his absence.
According to the daily, Mubashar himself installed close circuit cameras around his house and complained of security concerns after the incident.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said law enforcers do not have sufficient information about his disappearance right now.
Law enforcers are definitely trying their best to rescue him, he said at a programme organised by Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) in the capital this afternoon.
