Now, car driver loses leg on Dhaka road
A private car driver got his left leg severed from his knee as a bus ran over him on Mayor Hanif Flyover in Dhaka this afternoon.
A bus of Green Line scraped the private car while getting on the flyover around 3:00 pm. Being enraged, the private car driver Rasel Sarker started chasing the bus and at one stage, he tried to stop the bus getting in front of it, Nur Islam Sohag, a witness, told The Daily Star.
But the bus driver refused to stop the bus and kept driving on. As Rasel tried to get away from in front of the bus, his leg got crushed under the bus beside the railing of the flyover, he said.
He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital initially and then shifted to Apollo Hospitals, police said.
Rasel, 26, a driver at a rent-a-car service, was returning Dhaka from Keraniganj. He is the son of Shariful from Palashbari area in Gaibandha, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
The driver of the bus was held following the incident, Toriqul Islam, sub-inspector of Shahbagh Police Station, told The Daily Star.
Earlier on April 4, Rajib Hossain, lost his right hand after it got stuck between two buses in the city's Bangla Motor area. Rajib succumbed to his injuries on April 17.
In another such incident, Rozina, a teenage girl, lost her right leg as the wheels of a BRTC bus ran over it on Airport Road near Banani's Chairman Bari on April 20. She is now undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
