Order on govt plea against Khaleda’s bail July 2
The supreme court will pass an order on July 2 on a leave-to-appeal petition filed by the government challenging the High Court order that granted bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a killing case lodged in Comilla.
The case was filed over killing seven people and injuring 25-26 others by setting fire on a bus at Chouddagram in Comilla on February 2, 2016.
The HC, on February 28, granted bail to Khaleda Zia for six months in this case.
Today, a four-member of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain fixed the date for passing the order after holding hearing on the leave to appeal petition.
The apex court also has fixed tomorrow for holding hearing on another leave-to-appeal petition filed by the government challenging the HC order that granted bail to Khaleda Zia in a vandalism case filed for vandalising vehicles in Comilla’s Chouddagram area on January 25, 2015.
The HC granted bail to Khaleda Zia for six months in this case on May 28.
