Pallabi reservoir blast: 3-yr-old girl succumbs at DMCH
A three-year-old girl, who along with five others suffered burn injuries after a water reservoir exploded at a building in Dhaka’s Pallabi area yesterday morning, died at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital early today.
Ruhi, was undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital’s burn unit, succumbed around 1:00am, Dr Samanta Lal Sen, national coordinator at National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery of DMCH, told The Daily Star.
She suffered 90 percent burns on her body, DMCH sources said.
The blast happened on the ground floor of the six-storey building in Pallabi-12.
Ruhi’s mother Yeasmin, 30, a tenant of the house, Hasan, 28, another tenant of the building, Yakub Ali Khan, 70, owner of the building, his wife Hosena Ara, 60, are undergoing treatment at the hospital and their condition is said to be critical.
Yeasmin sustained around 41 percent burn injuries, hospital sources said.
Another injured Mohammad Parvez, 14, a class-VII student and son of a tenant of the house, was given first aid.
