Poet Belal Chowdhury on life support

Prominent poet Belal Chowdhury, 79, who has been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka with multiple ailments, was put on life support yesterday.

“He was put on life support around 3:48pm as his condition deteriorated,” an official at Anwer Khan Modern Hospital told The Daily Star on condition of anonymity.

Chowdhury was admitted to the hospital on November 2 last year with various old age complications, including kidney problem and anaemia, sources at the hospital said.

He has been receiving treatment under the supervision of Prof Dr Firoz Ahmed Quraishi.
