DMP begins cleanliness campaign
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today launched a cleanliness campaign in the offices of its all units and adjacent areas in Dhaka to control the dengue outbreak.
The three-hour-long campaign ended around 10:00am, a press release issued by the DMP said today.
All offices of deputy commissioners (DCs) of police, police stations, police camps, control rooms, messes and dining places for the policemen under the DMP were cleaned during the campaign, said a press release.
The members of all units of DMP including its high officials took part in the campaign, the press release reads.
DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia briefed media at Rajarbagh Police Line in Dhaka about the cleanliness campaign.
A record 21,235 people have been diagnosed with dengue this year, including 3,464 outside Dhaka, according to the Director General of Health Services (DGHS).
In the 24 hours until Friday 8:00am, 1,687 new dengue cases have been reported.
According to sources in hospitals, at least 50 people died of dengue this year till yesterday. The DGHS, however, puts the figure at 18 till now.
