DU syndicate chaired by VC Prof Akhtaruzzaman made the decision at an emergency meeting last night.
Terming the attack as "planned", the syndicate condemned the attack on the VC residence and demanded immediate punishment of those who were involved in it.
"The attempt of killing VC and his family members is an evil attempt to unstable the atmosphere of the university," said the syndicate members.
"The attackers are not from the quota demonstrators," they added.
The syndicate also urged the authorities concerned to act more responsibly considering the government's decision regarding quota reformation.
