Bishwo Shahitto Kendro Founder Prof Abdullah Abu Sayeed, who broke his hip bone after falling on a road on Saturday night, went through a major surgery on his hip at Labaid Specialized Hospital in Dhaka today.

His neck of the femur, which was broken after falling, was replaced through the two-hour-long surgery from 3:00pm, said Dr Amjad Hossain, arthroplasty and trauma surgeon of the hospital.

“The physical condition of Prof Sayeed is improving and he’ll be able to completely recover within next three-four days,” the doctor told The Daily Star.

Dr Amjad said, “We hope, he [Prof Sayeed] will recover very soon and be able to stand on his feet within next two days.”

On Saturday around 7:30pm, Prof Sayeed slipped from a road divider when he was crossing the Sonargaon Road in front of Bangla Vision office in Karwan Bazar area in Dhaka.

Later, the driver of his car brought him to a nearby hospital and then shifted to Labaid for better treatment, family members of Prof Sayeed told The Daily Star.
