Rangpur city polls Dec 21

The Rangpur City Corporation elections will be held on December 21.

The Election Commission will provide details of the election schedule on November 5, said Helaluddin Ahmed, acting secretary of the EC yesterday.

Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) will be used at one polling centre on a trial basis and CCTV cameras will be installed at important polling centres in the Rangpur city areas, the EC acting secretary said.

Under the incumbent commission headed by KM Nurul Huda, it would be the major election since the Comilla City Corporation polls held in March this year.

The five-year tenure of Rangpur city mayor will expire on February 14 next year.
